A quick visit to explore the Havasu Creek confluence with the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. Our self support kayak crew stopped here briefly to check out the creek. Wish we could've stayed longer and explored a lot more! Paddling 226 miles over 12 days in November (less daylight) while trying to stay ahead of a 38,000 cfs "High Flow Event" coming up behind us left little time to fool arou...

Jacks River 11-20-15
Переглядів 5068 років тому
Jacks River, a major tributary of the Conasauga River, is a remote river located deep in the Cohutta Wilderness of north Georgia. There are basically two access or "put in" points both of which require a great deal of determination and perseverance. The first point requires about a 65 mile shuttle each way and 18 river miles. Due to daylight restrictions we opted to instead hike about five mile...

Our trip started at the Gates of Lodore in northwestern Colorado and ended at the Split Mountain boat ramp in northeastern Utah. The trip took four days trip covering 40 river miles. This is a video of my personal first descent of Tallulah River Gorge in northeast Georgia. Excellent day on the water with some of the best paddlers I've paddled with. This was 11-8-14 (Saturday) with the lower release level between 450-500 cfs. Great weather and large crowd. Big thanks to my crew who showed me the lines!

In the distant past, running a river was a wilderness experience. Much has changed.

Rafted down the Gauley in the mid 90s. It’s the only time I ever rafted and I couldn’t have had a better time. That river is no joke

That guy that jumped at 2:48 to be able to flip the Creature Craft. Is he alive? There’s no way he’s able to surface from those current. Looks like a whirlpool tbh After looking closely, the second guy who jumped to flip it back over seems to be hanging onto the raft. But the first guy who jumped on at 2:40 and flipped it, definitely did not resurface.

They're fine. People were jumping into the water left and right and no one seemed concerned, leads me to believe its not a huge deal. you can see an eddy just beyond the rapids and people swimming to it

This is the first that I’ve ever seen these Creature Crafts before. Interesting design theory to keep them from flipping; but, doesn’t the very design greatly reduce ones visibility, since there is a massively thick inflated tube directly in the middle of ones line of sight?

I'm pretty sure the blue Creature-Craft that appears @2:30, is a Handi-Raft Modification, being paddled by its inventor, Eric Thompson. E.T. has a T-8 level spinal cord injury. Yes, he's paddling the Upper Gauley, solo, and he is paralyzed from about the sternum on down. Very big, very brassy, his are!

Not sure if you know, but my buddy Chuck cleared a trail from the bottom of clear creek falls up to the top of Timber Falls on Clear Creek. Looking upstream at Clear Creek, it starts as a horse trail on the right, just past where you eddies out below CC Falls. Nice video... Can't believe how washed out CC Falls was and how badass Blackberry looked. Not sue where you live, but if you are around Atlanta, you've got to run Sweetwater and the Dog in Douglas County. I have videos on both.
