Rafted down the Gauley in the mid 90s. It’s the only time I ever rafted and I couldn’t have had a better time. That river is no joke

Yeah great fun

That guy that jumped at 2:48 to be able to flip the Creature Craft. Is he alive? There’s no way he’s able to surface from those current. Looks like a whirlpool tbh After looking closely, the second guy who jumped to flip it back over seems to be hanging onto the raft. But the first guy who jumped on at 2:40 and flipped it, definitely did not resurface.

Lmfao is it an unwritten rule that if you are on Pillow Rock and see a Creature Craft coming, you have to attempt to jump onto it?

There is a big hole close to the rock I am not expert but I think that one is dangerous yet people jumping on it.

This is the first that I’ve ever seen these Creature Crafts before. Interesting design theory to keep them from flipping; but, doesn’t the very design greatly reduce ones visibility, since there is a massively thick inflated tube directly in the middle of ones line of sight?

I have always wanted to see that section, but don't have the skills to attempt it. Thank you for sharing part of your journey.

I'm pretty sure the blue Creature-Craft that appears @2:30, is a Handi-Raft Modification, being paddled by its inventor, Eric Thompson. E.T. has a T-8 level spinal cord injury. Yes, he's paddling the Upper Gauley, solo, and he is paralyzed from about the sternum on down. Very big, very brassy, his are!

This is a great tril. We usually start at the flat spot by the gate of P2 and ride 2-5.

What was the river level when your ran this? I would like to do it if we ever get rain. I love that area, and would love to kayak that river.

Not sure if you know, but my buddy Chuck cleared a trail from the bottom of clear creek falls up to the top of Timber Falls on Clear Creek. Looking upstream at Clear Creek, it starts as a horse trail on the right, just past where you eddies out below CC Falls. Nice video... Can't believe how washed out CC Falls was and how badass Blackberry looked. Not sue where you live, but if you are around Atlanta, you've got to run Sweetwater and the Dog in Douglas County. I have videos on both.
